Decree 356 - Strengthening Vietnam's Personal Data Protection Framework

Vietnam’s personal data protection framework continues to evolve.

In our latest legal update, we examine several important developments introduced by Decree 356/2025/ND-CP, including:

* new requirements for obtaining verifiable consent;

* written agreements for certain personal data transfers;

* qualification standards for personnel responsible for personal data protection; and

* statutory timelines for handling data subject requests.

These changes will require businesses that collect, use or transfer personal data in Vietnam to review their privacy policies, internal procedures and personal data protection compliance framework.
